Recently, we asked our followers and local partner organizations to fill out a survey about our office and our work and share ideas on possible improvements. The responses provided valuable insights that help us understand our visibility, the effectiveness of our presence-building methods, and areas for improvement. We also learned how we can enhance cooperation between Latvia and the Nordic countries and help you take advantage of opportunities.
The survey was anonymous, however, those interested in summarized results or receiving our newsletter were invited to provide their email address. Nearly 80 % of the one hundred and eleven respondents did so.
Responding to the popular desire to receive our newsletter via e-mail, we are planning to shortly resume sending out our monthly informative e-mails. 30% of total respondents had not previously engaged with our office. For those who had, participation mainly involved exchange trips, seminars, and conferences in Nordic countries, benefiting from our mobility programmes. Many expressed interest in exchange trips, seminars, joint projects with Nordic partner organisations, or collaborating with the Nordic embassies in Latvia.
Respondents noted the following information as personally most useful: events and seminars, cooperation projects, Nordic good practice examples and research, and open calls for mobility programmes. We share this kind of information on our website and social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, while LinkedIn is where we post practical examples and research from the Nordic countries that are relevant and could be applicable or adjusted for Latvia. LinkedIn is the only social media platform where we post in English. That is due to the fact that the content we share on this platform is commonly made by the official Nordic organisations (in English) and is intended mainly for state and municipality representatives, NGOs, and professional stakeholders.
To us, the greatest value from the survey were the extended responses to the question, “How do you think Nordic cooperation with Latvia can best be strengthened?” The suggestions, ranging from promoting Nordic languages to organising visits and workshops by writers and artists to other cities beyond Riga, as well as international exchange and activities for youngsters, are already being executed and several other are in the pipeline.
